Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DipEVN) – Equine

The Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Equine) is a Level 3 qualification specifically designed to prepare and support those who wish to pursue a career as an equine veterinary nurse.

The programme comprises a balance of practice-based learning and theoretical teaching, to enable learners to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to practise equine veterinary nursing safely and competently, whilst also giving them the opportunity to learn life skills essential for professional development.

Clinical placement in an approved training practice is required when undertaking this qualification to ensure learners are confident in a veterinary environment, and the programme can be carried out on a full or part-time basis. Key units of study include supporting veterinary operating theatre practice, principles of equine neonatal care, and practical peri-operative veterinary nursing support for horses.

The programme allows flexibility for Centres to use different training styles and structures, and provides additional helpful details for learners and facilitators looking for further guidance. The learning objectives and unit structure of this qualification are equivalent to that of the RCVS level 3 Diploma.

CQ procedures ensure that quality assurance is robustly monitored and enforced within all qualifications and delivery methods.
